Right. So the JNI C/C++ RTL functions run on a zIIP but as I thought
DFSORT running in a spawned process does not. DFSORT could have been
executed with a simple link
to the program so I'm guessing that spawning a process was a design
feature so it wouldn't run on a zIIP?
The JZOS DFSORT wrapper spawns DFSORT in a separate process, which is not
part of the JVM and is therefore not zIIP eligible.

Subject: Does JZOS DFSORT get offloaded to a zIIP?
Sent by: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]>
I'm guessing the answer is no judging by the fact that JZOS spawns a
jdfsort UNIX process to do the sort and if it did everybody would just
write Java wrappers to
sort data sets thus reducing the cost of running DFSORT.
