Thanks for the heads up Jerry. We've been 2.2 since spring, and haven't had
any of these issues, but was gearing up to start using GDGE. I'll leave it
enabled, but we won't be pushing its use until OA50703 is closed. As for the
JES2 APAR, we don't use PRYORATE, and we are z22 everywhere now, except our
PROD spool. We have had problems getting to z22 mode due to the requirement
for SPOOLDEF CYL_MANAGED=ALLOWED and insufficient support for it in CA-Roscoe
since it reads spool directly. I think they have it fixed now. As a
side-note, we used the $MSPL (Merge spool) command to merge some of our older
smaller spool volumes onto some mod-54's, and Roscoe can't read that data
either. Sadly, CYL_MANAGED=ALLOWED came along in z/OS 1.11, and $MSPL came
along in 1.12 or 1.13 and neither were working properly within CA-Roscoe even
now...

Subject: z/OS v2.2 upgrade issues

To all,

Just a little heads up when upgrading to z/OS v2.2, we found three issues which
have now been APAR'ed.

- RACF ICH409I 283-24 abends, saying the RACF templates are out of sync

o APAR OA51211

o Anyone that has PTFs for OA48359

§ UA90988 or UA90989

o UA82833 or UA82896

- Issues with high connect times on ICF catalogs, due to an issue with
extended GDG

o APAR OA50703

o Release 2.2 introduced GDG Extended (GDGE) functionality, which allowed for
GDG bases that included more than 255 GDSs.

- Issues with JES2 output trying to convert to z22 MODE

o APAR OA51468

o After issuing $DACTIVATE, the following message was issued

§ HZS0003E CHECK(IBMJES2,JES2_UPGRADE_CKPT_LEVEL_JES2): HASPH030E JES2 address
space JES2 detected a job/output queue error.

o Local fix is to change the OUTDEF PRYORATE=0 and hot/warm start a JES2

To date, we have only applied the RACF PTF at this point.

Jerry
