He was certainly nice to us on our visit in late eighties. Guess the thrust 
 was sizing and capacity planning.
Their first attempts at dial up registration had shut down the College  
Station Central Office. The bottle neck was not enough phone lines.
 
The other tidbit was clear documentation. Evidently the first successful  
registration this big cowboy in a red Caddy convertible with long horns on 
the  front comes rolling in to the admin building parks in the no parking, 
tromps  across do not walk on grass signs and marches into Gates office. Tell 
Billy,  Jimmy Joe is hear.
 
Long story short. His car phone was same number as the dial-up registration 
 but different area code. Supposedly was like 'it costs me $2 every time I 
pick  it up, you need to fix it or I'm gonna quit payin for that new 
Agriculture  building'
