When I started around 1989, "they" told me MVS/XA and MVS/ESA are going to die. Please don't cry. Now at z/OS v2.1, I am still waiting for the funeral. Oh, don't forget - there is no technology, hardware and software, available to _fully_ replace MVS, OS/390 and z/OS. I said 'fully' because you can perhaps migrate 'off the mainframe', but then on a smaller scale. I still miss OS/2. That thing was a marvel, but big blue's marketing was not a marvel...
