There is a US Supreme Court ruling in this area. You, the employee, are required to be loyal to the entity paying you. There is no reciprocity in that ruling as I recall.
And I think it was from there that we finally got to "At Will". I say it this way, because I can't remember the year that ruling was handed down, but I do remember having some documents handed out at an employer requiring us to acknowledge (out of the blue as it were), that employment was "at will".
