Of all the pieces in the transfer chain, I would expect SFTP to be the least 
likely to cause any problems.  Since it's part of the openSSH package, it uses 
the same type of encryption to transfer the data.  If the sending process isn't 
checking the return code of the transfer, it may miss "out of space" problems, 
etc., but that would be a problem with the script, not SFTP.
