SOMAXCONN sets the depth for IP socket connections queued. I am not aware of any way to find out statistics on how many queued sockets have existed during a certain timeperiod. I believe 10 was the default value until z/OS 1.13. I believe the new default in 2.2 is 1024. We had some occurrences in the past where we had hit the 10 & 1024 marker, so we increased this further.
The only consequence I can think of is the increase of memory usage by the TCPIP stack. It is currently set to 10. I would like to know if there would be potential problems if we do the increase. FYI, we recently upgraded from z/os 1.13 to z/os 2.2. Any information on this would be appreciated.
