Ironstream captures and forwards to a data repository in real time SYSLOG, SMF, LOG4J, JES Spooled output, RMF, SYSTEMSTATE, and user generated input using an API. As part of that capture and forward process raw data is formatted into a Splunk acceptable form and translated from EBCDIC to ASCII.
This data can then be displayed using stock and custom Splunk dashboards. So it is a lot more than just an FTP process.
