If the number of pathnames is (more or less) constant, I would define symbolic links containing the upper case system id letters, pointing to the all lower case pathnames. For path /abc/xyzA1 this would be the commands cd /abc ln -s /abc/xyza1 xyzA1 The STC will access the path via link.
