Hi Theo, I want to make sure I understand your question. Are you asking that if you have a data set compressed with generic or tailored compression and use DFSMSdss to DUMP that data set specifying ZCOMPRESS, will that data set be sent through zEDC for further compression? If so, the answer is yes, if you specify ZCOMPRESS DFSMSdss will send generic and tailored compressed data set through zEDC for further compression. I cannot speak to whether or not you will see added benefit by compressing already compressed data with zEDC.
