Yes, technically, as long as it's a digital computing algorithm. Analog algorithms might be tough: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analog_computer "Technically" is an important qualifier. What might be technically possible might not be contractually or legally possible. In the case of blockchain algorithms, there are probably a couple governments prohibiting or severely restricting blockchain algorithm adoption in their countries. If you're eager to get started with blockchain algorithms on z/OS, I suggest getting ahold of IBM's SDK for Node.js for z/OS and then try this Hyperledger Fabric Client for Node.js: https://www.npmjs.com/package/fabric-client That particular combination should get your z/OS system connected to any Hyperledger Fabric network, which could be (as a notable example) a secure Enterprise Hyperledger Fabric at IBM Bluemix, running in secure containers on IBM Z machines at IBM. Please give it a try if you're interested -- reports appreciated. As another example, if you'd like to work with the Bitcoin protocol, try Bitcoinj on z/OS: https://www.bitcoinj.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Sipples IT Architect Executive, Industry Solutions, IBM z Systems, AP/GCG/MEA E-Mail: [email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
