I have a program that accesses offline volumes to report on the volser. It works fine for both VM and MVS volumes, but occasionally, It takes a long time or doesn't return the volser. I suspect it is a dual copy volume being used for Volume Migration, with a PACE(0) set which does not allow ANY I/O's to the volume. For PPRC or other copies, PACE CANNOT be 0 therefore other I/O's can always get in. The volume I am looking at is the Primary in a Dual Copy Pair, but I can't determine the pace parameter being used.
Does anyone know what control block would have the Pace value? When I look at The volume using ISMF, ISMF gets the volser with no trouble.
