I am not sure that managing passwords is off topic.  It is certainly can be
a pain point.

   - ds888x admin
   - ds888x copy services admin
   - SKLM
   - ts77x0 admin
   - 2498 admin
   - HMC

Just to name a few.. depending on the configuration .. there might be a
whole lot more.  And while the LDAP integration seems like a good idea..
for recovery purposes it may be a red herring.
