Since the original is managed by SMS, you need to tell ADRDSSU that you want the copy to be unmanaged. Look for the section "Converting Data Sets with Data Movement" in your copy of DFSMSdss Storage Administration. Mine (very old) says to specify both BYPASSACS and NULLSTORCLASS on the COPY command.
