Basically, OpenBSD (possibly one of the most secure *IX implementations) say that Intel hyperthreading has security implications because the processes running on the two threads on a single core share L1 cache and TLB information. Which could possibly result in one processing reading data which belongs to the other process (i.e. a "spectre-class" hack). So they are disabling hyperthreading on Intel since " “SMT doesn't necessarily have a posive effect on performance; it highly depends on the workload. In all likelyhood it will actually slow down most workloads if you have a CPU with more than two cores.” -- There is no such thing as the Cloud. It is just somebody else’s computer.
