Unless IBM can give you better advice in an SR, I would suggest abandoning this catalog altogether by doing a REPRO MERGECAT into a new one. This command allows filtering such that you can repro everything up to the problem entry, then repro everything after that. You might have to DEF NVSAM the squirrelly GDG entries, but that shouldn't be a burdensome task.
