I guess the question is: Why is it ok for the IOCP, but not ok for the IODEF?
Sounds like someone in the z/os group IODEF programmer did not talk to the hardware guys.

Don't believe FICON supports BCTC. If ESCON is no longer an option for you, believe you'll need to look at the TCP/IP for NJE protocol instead.
