Thank you to Tom, Dana, John and Steve, all of whom came up with the
"right" answer (i.e. the answer I was looking for). Yes, the ancient
PDS command does exactly what I want...
1) I don't have to write my own utility.
2) I can run it in the batch under the TMP.
3) It has an ATTR membersref ADDSTATS command that does exactly what I want!
