Our z/OS now uses two main types of tape media specifications in the jcl:
3590-1
VTL3590

We have just recently added the VTL and am just now testing. We set our esoterics to:
3590-1 >>> C00-C07 (real 3590s)
VTL3590 >> 110-117 (the new VTL)

If I use 3590-1 or VTL3590 in the JCL, the correct set of drives are used by RMM to create any new tape.

Today, a programmer needed an older tape that was created prior to the esoteric changes. RMM tried to mount it on the VTL and not on the real 3590s. In the RMM catalog, the tape has MEDIATYPE=CART3590.

Can someone point me to what needs to be changed so that tapes defined to RMM as CART3590 will only use the real 3590s?
