Motivated by recent discussion of SMP/E support for UNIX files, I read:
SMP/E for z/OS IBM
Reference SA23-2276-30
Hierarchical file system element MCS
The hierarchical file system element MCSs describe elements located in a
UNIX file
system. Hierarchical file system elements can have any of the following
characteristics:
o The record format (RECFM) must be F, FA, FM, FB, FBA, FBM, V, VA, VM, VB,
VBA, or VBM.
o Elements with variable-length records cannot contain spanned records.
o The maximum LRECL is 32,654.
o The records can be numbered or unnumbered.
WTF!? ROFL! Someone sure talks UNIX with an MVS accent.
