What I did mean to imply is that DD DDNAME= is nothing like pipes, nor any sense of "routing" I know of. As for its usefulness, I have myself found it useful in some (rare) cases. If you find it "often" useful, that's great. In any case, I don't know (or much care) what ITschak knows or doesn't know.
