Okay, I have the same job/same data run on both systems. On the z114 5-way, 60.25 CPU seconds. Based on a ratio 1.25, one would expect about 48 CPU seconds on the z196 30-way. In reality it was 42.65 seconds.
I guess close enough for government work. The z196 is z/OS under z/VM, so I am sure that affects things. There may be some other differences such as what datasets go to VIO. Yeah, that's where I am heading. At the moment I don't have the same data on both machines. I thought this question was going to be easy. To a first approximation, run the same job on both and compare.
