SVC26 existed long before the Catalog address space did. I feel sure there are
some paths that will not require access to the Catalog address space.

Subject: [IBM-MAIN] SVC 26

Hello,

When SVC 26 is invoked, I believe it communicates with the CATALOG address
space to either read from Catalog or write into Catalog? If this is true, I
would like to understand how SVC 26 communicates with CATALOG address space? Is
it either through POST/WAIT logic or through PC interface (or some other way)?

In order to understand this I took a SLIP dump right after SVC 26 invocation,
in one of my test programs, and tried to read the SYSTRACE entries, in the
dump, in between "SVC 1A" and "SVCR 1A" but I didn't get a clue on how
communication may happen (if at all it happens).

Thanks,
Apoorva
