No. The quoting should suffice. For example, on Linux:
11125 $ touch "'hlq.data.set(member)'"
11125 $ cp "'hlq.data.set(member)'" wombat
1126 $
11126 $ ls -alrt
1total 20
...
1-rw-r--r-- 1 paulgilm paulgilm 0 Jan 8 13:00 'hlq.data.set(member)'
