Not only that, but one places states that UPGLEVEL indicates the highest
SMPE-version one can use against that zone. At least that is how I read it, so
I am more confused than ever. And since Kurt Q. hasn't chimed in...

Unfortunately the zone I would have to use UPGRADE against is my z/OS zone. I
don't really understand what the UPGRADE command does (other than it *creates*
an UPGLEVEL subentry in the zone definition - there aren't any right now, and
it has something to do with how modules are kept in the SMPLTS) or why it is
necessary to use it at all. So I will remove the dddefs for z/Secure from my
z/OS target and DLIB zones and create separate zones for z/Secure, to be on the
safe side.

I am still not really convinced that I should install z/Secure 2.4 when z/OS is
at 2.3.

Thanks to all who responded,
Barbara
