I suspect MVS FTP antedates OMVS, probably using the
Pascal/GIVESOCKET/TAKESOCKET interfaces.

And such misbehaviors as:
     LCD followed by
     LPWD shows correct working directory
     ! PWD gets it wrong.

Half-hearted implementation.
