So you will end up with 3rd level VSE under 2nd level zvm under 1st
level zvm? And the 3rd level is considered production? Although there
have been improvements in this area you may want to carefully look at
the 3rd level production VSE performance. What zvm version? What type of
box? You may want to consider a 2nd LPAR - it depends. Maybe start with
a 2nd LPAR and eventually once all users/influencers are soothed combine
into bigger fewer LPARs.
Is this a security issue of some sort? z/VM provides integrity and
isolation between virtual machines as you know.
At one client we run mulitple LPARs (no 3rd level production) for
security concerns. There really aren't any security concerns! but until
they're comfortable I didn't kick up too much dirt - eventually I'd like
to tear down some LPARs and consolidate onto bigger fewer LPARs. What
annoys me 'bout multiple LPARs is that you can depending on workload
waste storage.

ZVM in production or why it's a good idea. Business reasons pro and con
are welcome as well.
