We do run that configuration. At least I think it matches yours. Our path is:
1) ESAMAP daily "fn HISTORY" (is that what you meant by "Daily Digests"?) files written onto individual datasets on a VM standard label tape.
2) z/OS reads the SL tape DSN raw data processed through MXG at 22.22 (almost ready for 24.01), loaded into a local database.
But had to back out z/VM 5.2.0 Monday March 20 after only 3 days in production when z/OS 1.6 (then, now z/OS 1.7) guests had problems with VSAM Record Level Sharing, and other CICS region initialization problems. We've brought it back up twice only long enough to gather additional documentation for IBM (last time this Monday evening). While awaiting a resolution of the z/OS VSAM RLS issue, we'll apply the shiny new RSU (Jim: I side with you -- this RSU/SLU numbering scheme leads to nothing but utter confusion!), any other closed PTFs that look applicable, and be ready to make another run at it. I'll try to remember to post the results of the ESAMAP daily "fn HISTORY" files going via SL tape to z/OS. Can you elaborate on what problem you're seeing? The folks here who processed the ESAMAP data into MXG from the 3 days we were on z/VM 5.2 did not recall any problems.

Martha: My post about all you whiners (guess I just joined the club by publically announcing a z/VM 5.2 back-out) was unusually short for me. It originally had a whole paragraph about why the VM community **needs** and **appreciates** ESP customers, and "early-adopters", even though IBM VM development has done an incredible job of making z/VM so much more stable than older pre-VM/ESA releases, and even the 900 pound gorilla in the box next door (sure the plex usually stays up, but the loss of a single system is still an application outage). But I deleted all those compliments because the ESP'ers already know that, and because such accolades makes Chuckie's head swell too much. Given his diminutive size, I wouldn't want him to topple over! Time for "chill pill" so soon after a day off (or: trying to dig through a mountain of e-mail and urgent support calls)? ;-)~

This is a stab in the dark - I'm looking for somebody else who's running
Velocity's ESAMAP under zVM 5.2 and feeding the ESAMAP, "Daily Digests"
into Merrill's MXG software.
We are (obviously) experiencing some difficulties with this setup, or I
wouldn't be asking, but we'd like to reassure ourselves that they're
problems of our own making - hopefully by finding somebody who
says, "Problem? What problem?".
If you ARE running this software mix - either successfully or
unsuccessfully - I'd appreciate it if you could please say so - either on
-
list or off-list, whichever you prefer. I'll take silence to mean that
we're the pioneers.
