[Editorial correction to subject line - the affected system is z/VM 5.1, not 5.2...]

I've wondered much the same thing as we've continued to pick at this issue. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a copy of the older-generation C compiler to compare results with. My [currently unfounded] suspicion is that there's a collision of some sort between the cradling mechanism that wraps the newer C/C++ compiler and RPCGEN. Meanwhile, I keep hoping that somebody will point at the obvious flaw so I can do my Homer Simpson "D'OH!" impression... ;-)

Dan,

I've just now installed the older IBM C/370 for VM product (Product Name: 5654033, Version 3, Release 1, Modification 00) here on my z/VM 5.2 test system, and the RPCGEN DMSVSMA works OK. I get the 5 output files that I should.

I would think that this shows that there is something in the RPCGEN command that is not supported by the new C/C++ product.
