For those you who have a 2074 and have had to configure it, you recognize it first as OS/2 and then the DEVCTL screen. Much of this stuff is similar
to how the MP3000, P390 and P370 defined devices. On the 3 previously mentioned machines a person could define a tape unit that, through the magic
of DEVCTL and some AWSxxx program, could emulate a tape device. This was sometimes referred to as Emulated I/O.
You could read and write to this tape device and the OS was none the wiser.
The 2074 has the AWSOMA module which is used with the CD player and CD's in the correct format.
Finally, the question: Can a tape device be defined on the 2074, like it was on the above three mentioned boxes?
I used to do this on the MP3K. It wasn't the fastest thing but it made life easier for me more than once.
