Review the option of a Flex-Cub based dasd box. You could then add tape and other emulation if you wanted to. Should be cheaper than the EMC path.

Hello Everyone,

I appreciate all the info, hints, and tips from everyone.

My game plan has been altered a little.

We are on a MP3000 using EMC Symetrix and Internal dasd.

        1) Apply the last RSU to z/VM4.3 which will give me all the
required maintenance (I can find) for the z890.

        2) Apply VSE/ESA ptfs for the z890.

        3) Get off the Internal DASD, which means upgrading to a
new EMC box. (Question! How bad is your EMC support?)

        4) Migrate to the z890. Should be a push pull at this
point.

        5) Migrate/Upgrade to z/VM 5.2.

Again, I do thank you all for discussions on migration,
concerns, and war stories.
