I think IBM Host on Demand is another possibility - it did run on z/Linux. It's probably called something else now knowing IBM :)

The Unix/Linux "screen" utility would do some of this. If you have VM (and you do), check out YVETTE or the fabulous SESSION (from CUNY). SESSION is one of the first two or three things I put onto a new system. YVETTE is a little slicker for lots of users, but SESSION is a godsend.
