Nah.  Please don't do that.  SPECIAL is deprecated for virtual NICs. 
(SPECIAL and NICDEF do the same thing, BTW.)

Actually, I found the documentation in the VSE Planning book, rather than 
in the TCP/IP for VSE 1.5 IBM Program Setup and Supplementary Information 
book, where I expected it.  THAT book sends you to the VSE Planning book.
