Does anyone have any idea how to retireve the data off an LVM which has had one of it's volumes mistakenly formatted in z/VM while the instance was down? Yes, I know, the best way to handle this type of situation is never to be there...
The data I need slipped between our backup windows.

On at least some kernel levels, with at least some DASD device drivers, never-formatted DASD won't come ACTIVE -- it stays READY forever (yes, those states seem backwards: ACTIVE is "better" than READY). Hence, I suspect, the original admonition. ...phsiii
