And I once was bitten by the INSTALL EXEC (from Endicott) that issued 'SET CMSTYPE HT' 'DIRECT' 'DIRECT' 'SET CMSTYPE RT' Say 'Directory has been placed online' This happened after that I changed disk labels on DISK and all MDISK statements, but I forgot the DIRECTORY record. I found out after IPL when not a single MInidisk could be found, in times without a DEFINE MDISK command, this was mortal. Since then I hate all execs that include a SET CMSTYPE HT, this is hardly ever required, surely not when running with ADDRESS COMMAND.

Even tho I was working for IBM at the time, I never quite was willing to place blind trust in S/W installs after that. Note that this was not, fortunately, contained within some long installation exec, but was printed in the product directory. If I remember correctly, it was not an Endicott product, so Chuckie would not have done it. Jim At 05:26 PM 6/1/2006, you wrote: >yeah I know. PUT2PROD is harsh.
