Thank you Kris.

I installed vtam using a separate userid and a ppf override.

I was going through the part explaining how to create the segment when
your email arrived.

I think I am good to go now.

=>Some day you'd need to learn a bit about VMSES/E... It is not that
hard
=>once you get the basics.
=>
=>When installing from tape, you are asked if you want to make an
override
=>or accept the defaults. With a good response, a panel will be
displayed
=>where you can define the minidisk/SFS dir to install the stuff in. No
=>VMSES/E skills required so far.. Remember too that you don't need to
=>install program products in the userid IBM write in the program
directory.
=> I never do. You also do not need to log on to these difficult to
=>remember userids. Everything can be done from MAINT for example. It
is
=>however best to not to use the same mindisk addresses for multiple
program
=>products (if you install in SFS, you'll almost surely use unique
dirids.)
=>
=>For VTAM: beware the name of the saved segment. The program directory
=>contains a step to create the saved segment (using VMFSGMAP), there
you
=>can change the name segment. Note too that you will need to generate
=>another GCS to pick up the new VTAM segment name.

=>We have a new ZVM 5.2 system. The VTAM we are using came from ZVM 3.1
=>minidisks.
=>
=>We have a product tape with VTAM on it. We want to load this VTAM from
=>tape to disk and not disturb what we already have in production.
=>
=>How would I go about doing this?

=>=>Jim,
=>=>
=>=>I do not understand the "from tape" comment. To preserve your
current
=>=>VM/VTAM environment and create a new one, you need to create a new
=>GCSx
=>=>NSS to use a new VTAMy DCSS along with new VTAM and VSCS LOADLIBs.
