I've never done any test comparing STORAGE vs. XSTORAGE for MDC. I suspect that "it depends". I would guess that a deciding factor is whether or not you can sometimes use main storage for other things than MDC. If your application requirements are such that in the day time, you're doing a lot of I/O that benefits from MDC but at night, you don't get any or much improvement from MDC because your requirements have changed, you may be better of letting MDC use more MAIN that XSTORAGE. If you can benefit from MDC 7x24, then you're probably better off leaving MDC in XSTORAGE.

Just a guess because as I said above, I haven't tested it. I've been lucky to not have to do that much tweaking for quite a while.
