Actually, the answer to that is probably: it depends! :)
For the normal VSE locking mechanism, I would say "YES". But what if, for example, the application program is handling the locking (e.g. DYNAM and Top Secret)? Then I would venture to say that NO "SHR" need be on the ADD statement!
Actually, I really want to understand why the MWV is so often used, because I cannot find a reason for using it!
