I couldn't speak to that point either, but... The CA piece of code for virtual tape on VM, seems to use the same tape structure that can be use by VSE Virtual tape. In other words, their virtual tapes for the VM products, I use with VSE Virtual tape to produce a real tape that then I use for VM. Just never got around to implement the VM side.
I also create real tapes for the VSE systems that don't have VSE Virtual tape also (my VSE/ESA 2.3 systems), so producing the VM tapes isn't a change in procedures. But eventually, I will bring up the CA code for virtual tapes so I can maintain their products directly. I do not believe that it really does tape virtualization. How about it someone from CA, is it a generalized tape emulator or simply a specialized program that does not fit the discussion?
