My apologies if I am just being ignorant. This did not show anything either. However if I use this to trace my own userid and use a RXsocket client that I wrote then I get trace info in the console.
When I run the application I am trying to trace it does show up in a
NETSTAT CONN command. Is there any other 'communication' method that can be
used when communication with TCPIP? I mean anything that would not show up
as IUCV?

Try NETSTAT OBEY SCREEN.
