Thanks

I'm just a little lower with VM63655

I was looking at the VSWITCH maintenance levels...hummmm

The one fix that looks interesting..VM63895 Linux guest cannot
reconnect to network.....

I'm on Linux. Why would my guest disconnect in the first place?
Is this just when you cycle inetd?
Is this when you cycle Linux (not logging off, but just IPL 150)?
Is this when you cycle Linux with a LOGOFF?
Is this when you do or don't use "shutdown -h now"?
Is this when you don't cycle VM when you cycle Linux?

I cycled Linux (shutdown -h now, with an IPL 150) and ran the test
again.
This time, I got thru. Got messages about my password was invalid.
So, I cycled Linux again, and went back to the old errors.

Right now, I'm testing both the LE and Assembler versions of the client
DRDA code with Linux down.
Both show sqlcode -933. The LE version took 30 seconds to figure out
Linux wasn't there. The assembler version took 1 second to figure this
out. And then went down with "open active socket" and returned sqlcode
-933.

I'm not sure what this tells me, but it means something (other than
Linux is down that is<G>)

I'll also take a look at the LE APAR VM63885.

But finally progress. I got the assembler version of the client DRDA
code to budge. A different message!

(My initial guess about the password thingie. All my userid/passwords
in DB2/UDB are lower case. Might not be a good thing when you are
running the DB2 Batch Utility. I'll create some upper case
userid/passwords for futher testing.)

Thanks

We are running z/VM 5.1 with RSU0502 and some additional PTFs. Our
VSWITCH setup is running okay. We run our Linux guest over the
VSWITCH
connections. They talk to both z/OS and other platforms with no
issues.

Here is what our QUERY VMLAN shows for maintenance level.

A little help.

I recommend that anyone using VSWITCH pay attention to the
"Maintenence
Levels" link on http://www.vm.ibm.com/virtualnetwork/. It has the
list
of PTFs available for VSWITCHes. Note that QUERY VMLAN gives you the
maintenence level information for Guest LAN/VSWITCH service.
