If you have DB2 using VM dataspaces, then you may want to
obtain the test fix for VM63968. There is not a PTF, yet. To obtain the test
fix, you need to open an ETR on IBMlink and request the test
fix.
We had a damaged spool situation on z/VM 5.2 about a month
ago. We had to rebuild and restore approximately 20 shared segments. And many of
our customer's spool files were lost or damaged. We didn't open an ETR, since we
had no dumps or other documentation to provide IBM. We installed VM63998 as the
probable fix. VM63998 also has PTFs for z/VM 4.4 and z/VM
5.1

In
addition to RSU 0602 you may want to apply APAR
VM63853.

OK. I am just now placing the order for zVM 5.2, so I will get the latest RSU.

VM 5.2 will run on the z9. I would highly recommend that you put the latest RSU tape(s) on if the VM 5.2
version is not current on maint. The problem with SPXTAPE when 5.2 was first shipped
will eventually get you if you don't have the most current maint on. It got us and a few others on this list.
Other then that, it's been running great.
Fixes are generally carried forward(incorporated) from release to release unless there are major changes in
the newest version.

I am presently running zVM 5.1. We have just placed an order for a
z9. I understand that zVM 5.1 needs some fixes to run on a z9.
Can anyone tell me if those fixes are built into zVM 5.2. I am
thinking that since i need to go to 5.2 anyway, I may as well upgrade.
