It can be enhanced to include an encryption stage along with the built-in PACK option. The only hard part of it was multi-volume datasets. But the Piper made me some enhancements to the tape stage to get that done (10-15 years ago). I also have some recollection that the format required the volser of the next tape to be in the EOF record, which made it pretty hairy. It's certainly doable, but I don't have access to tape drives anymore. Rob
