I was already there also. The manuals there didn't have any pictures of the hardware.
I read some of the 2074 manuals. Way different beasts. The 2074 looks to the mainframe as a non-SNA 3174. The "03" model you can have 48 sessions per escon adapter (much better than the 16 sessions per escon adapter, but really...) The 1174 is a SNA device. 4 PUs, each with 254 LUs defined. But judging by some 1174 manuals, all devices in this configuration are IP attached (TELNET, TN3270 and IP Printers). There is an IP address label on the box. Next time I'm in, I try PUTTY to connect to that IP address. If that fails, try a TN3270 session on that address. Funny, I came in today to pull the configurations out of VTAM and VSE so the deinstall can happen this weekend. Ooops, a lot of printers are being used. And everyone gives me a blank stare. Hopefully they will have some answers the next time I'm in <G>.. That's just one of the configurations. This thing had a zillion options and connections. They're still quite handy for gluing SNA and non-SNA worlds together -- you might consider putting a channel adapter in it and keeping it around as a console controller that you can tn3270 into.
