Hello, all I've moved this from Linux-390 to here. We have a 2094 attached to a Storagetek 9840 in a silo. What follows is the conversation that took place on the L390:
---- Nope. I'm sitting right there with the ops. Tried it several times, serveral different ways, but it always happens. We have a call open with IBM, but it gets mysteriouser and mysteriouser. The assign lost means the drive took a hard error. But the sense code means that the tape has the tab in the protected the position. But the tape was checked and guess which position it WASN'T in.... I should probably take this over to the VM list. Thanks for the advice, though. I can run circles around Linux but z/VM always seems to kick me in uncomfortable places.... -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port on behalf of Thomas Kern Sent: Fri 2/2/2007 2:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: DDR dump all That 'assign lost' sounds like another LPAR took over your tape drive. Did the operators vary it on to a z/OS system? /Tom Kern --- "Little, Chris" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Nope. Tried a different tape and a different drive.
