There appears to be some interest in having Chris's spool
file backup and restore utility made publicly available.
I've used this utility at several sites and it works well;
having one tool to manage *all* of the different SDFs that
live in CP's spool area is very handy.

With a little more effort (i.e., programming...:-) the
utility could be upgraded to run as a PIPELINEs stage,
feeding the contents of SDF files into a pipe for further
processing, e.g., written to disk, to tape, encrypted, sent
across the Internet, etc. This would certainly add to its
usefulness and flexibility....

A question: If this utility were upgraded as described
above, better documentation produced, and it was released
for public download from the IBM VM web site or some other
such site, would there be any interest in having a service
and support offering (i.e., a small $$ fee per year for
commercial support, upgrades, maintenance, etc.) available?
If such as offering were available, would anybody be
inclined to subscribe to it?

Please respond to me directly and not via the list.

Thanks and have a good one.
