Some easier solutions have already been suggested, but if you decide to go ahead with this one (or for future reference), do a CLEAN start instead of COLD. The difference between COLD and CLEAN starts is that system data files (NSS, DCSS, IMG, NLS, TRF) files are preserved and restored on a COLD start, but not on a CLEAN start. If you move and re-format your warmstart area, no matter what kind of start you do, the pointers to the system data files will be erased along with the pointers to all of the other spool files. Of course, when you SPXTAPE everything, be sure that you really back up everything, including the system data files. Then do a CLEAN start and restore everything back from tape. You won't save any time doing a COLD start in this situation, especially since the files you may think you are saving will be lost. John Franciscovich z/VM Development
