Sort of, yes.  This is why HiperSockets data transfers are synchronous. 
The data is not buffered by the firmware but copied directly to the target 
LPARs data buffers.

Of all the things to look at w.r.t. security of the mainframe, 
HiperSockets isn't where I'd be shining my flashlight.  In this particular 
case, I wonder if the shop is still using unencrypted TN3270 and FTP when 
inside the firewall?  Any child over the age of 8 knows how to get a LAN 
trace these days. (I guess we're lucky kids aren't left by themselves on 
Take Your Child to Work day...)
