Thank you for explaining LLC. I think I already understood that VTAM will drive the SNA port in the OSE as an XCA PU, the way it drives the PU in the 2216. What I was really asking was about the next step outward from VTAM. When VTAM is connected to the 2216, the SNA frames are sent by the 2216 using LLC to a router which ... etc. Since you defined LLC as "VTAM uses it to construct SNA ethernet frames", does that mean that the exact same thing is done when using the OSE? Basically: I want to be sure that I understand this correctly - can the cable that connects the router to the 2216 be unplugged from the 2216 and plugged into the OSE, and still work (subject to any required definition changes in software)? I apologize for dragging this out, but people here know IP and SNA, but for OSA questions they expect me to have the answers. I do not know where the details of this stuff are in writing (or if they are in simple enough terms for me to understand). Thank you very much for your help!
