This may be obvious, but if you're running a vanilla VM system you should 
increase the amount of spool space defined for the system before you start 
doing a lot with this technique. You can't crash VM by running out of spool 
space, but some very weird things will happen that are not obvious how to undo. 
Also, if you're short on PAGE space, VM will spill paging over into spool, and 
in that situation, VM can die horribly if your spool fills up with file 
transfer data.

Thank you all - the RDR option sounds very useful and is yet another 
secret handshake for z/VM that I will rememeber.
